This past Sunday at High Point Assembly of God Church in Royse City, we kicked off the new year with a powerful challenge: Who will you choose to serve? Pastor David Barnes launched our 2026 theme, "Me & My House," by taking us back to the decisive words of Joshua.
The Power of a Decisive Choice
Standing before a nation at a crossroads, Joshua didn't wait for a popular vote. He made a personal commitment that set the standard for generations to come.
The Stand: Joshua declared his allegiance "no matter what the people chose".
The Call: We are reminded that genuine faith is a deliberate, wholehearted commitment, not just "lip service".
The Frequency: Following God isn't a one-time event; it's a daily, intentional decision to choose Him again every morning.
Maintaining Your "Spiritual House"
During the service, we were reminded that we are "living stones" being built into a spiritual house. To keep that house strong, Pastor David and the leadership introduced Healthy House Habits—the "oil" that seasons and preserves our lives.
Start Your Healthy Habits Today:
Pray Daily: Set aside purposeful, intentional time to seek God’s face.
Fast Weekly: Dedicate a day or a meal to fast, ensuring you include focused prayer during that time.
Worship Regularly: Whether it is corporate worship on Sundays or personal worship in your car, make exalting God a consistent rhythm.
As we move into 2026, let's be a people who don't just "go with the flow," but instead say with confidence, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".
