Giving First Fruits - Offerings

Secure & Easy Online Giving

Think about this:

There are more than 500 verses in the Bible concerning prayer and nearly 500 verses concerning faith, but more than 2,000 verses on the subject of money and possessions. Jesus talked about money in 16 of His 38 parables. Clearly, from the Bible’s standpoint, we need to understand money and how to handle it. Why? Because money is actually a test from God.

How you handle money reveals volumes about your priorities, loyalties and affections.

Financial Principles

People Matter

As a church, people are most important to us, not their money. We don’t view things through a lens of donor bases, giving units or pet projects for those with money. We think it’s important for everyone to feel welcome, whether or not you ever give financially toward our cause.

Life isn't about money, but it's necessary in society.

We wish we lived in a utopian society where we could get free use of facilities and unlimited free data packages on mobile phones. But the reality is that we have budgeted items that need to be funded to keep things moving along. We’re doing our best to work with a lean budget that reflects what we feel is important to God.

Should Christians tithe to their local churches?

We encourage the practice of the biblical principle of tithing, giving 10% of your income, for all believers. In fact, we encourage giving above and beyond just tithing for those who are able. Extravagant generosity was normative in the early church, it is a gift of the Spirit, and it should be normative in Spirit-empowered, missional churches. However, tithing is not a condition for salvation or fellowship.

Giving as Worship

The giving of sacrificial offerings was the primary way believers worshipped God throughout the Bible. In fact the etymology of the word worship is actually from the old English for "worthiness." We include an opportunity to give during every worship service because it is an important part of how we "worship" the Lord. With that said while the offerings we give may honor God and help advance the spread of the Gospel, they don't and can't save the donor or change the donors' standing before God. The price for salvation was paid in full by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
