Called into Fellowship

In our latest service at Highpoint AG Church, Pastor David Barnes continued our "Me & My House" series with a powerful message titled "Called into Fellowship".
Building on our foundational scripture of Joshua 24:15, we shifted our focus to the "Individual House"—the dwelling place of our own personal lives. We explored the fundamental truth that we weren’t created by accident; we were created with four distinct purposes:
To reflect His glory (Isaiah 43:7).
For His pleasure (Revelation 4:11).
To rule over and care for His creation (Genesis 1:26).
For fellowship and relationship with God and others (Genesis 3:8).
The Danger of "Duty"
The heart of the message warned us against a common spiritual trap: emphasizing duty over relationship. It is easy to become so consumed with "doing" God’s work or maintaining a busy schedule of religious activities that we neglect the very thing He desires most—to simply be with us.
Tapping the Brakes
Using the metaphor of "tapping the brakes" while driving, Pastor Barnes encouraged us to slow down our pace to hear God’s voice. True spiritual health isn't found in a checklist, but in a "Spiritual Diet" of the Bread of Life. When we prioritize spending time with God alone in prayer and meeting with others in fellowship, we find the "daily bread" necessary to sustain us through life’s pressures.
The Takeaway: As we move through this week, let’s make the intentional choice to prioritize relationship over activity. Don't just do God's work; come to know Him.
This upcoming Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 5:30 pm, we invite you to join us for Encounter Night, a night of worship, prayer, and fellowship.
