First Things First

This past Sunday at Highpoint AG Church in Royse City, Texas, Pastor David Barnes shared a pivotal message in our "Me & My House" series titled "First Things First". As we continue our journey toward building healthy individual, family, and church houses, we must ensure our foundation is built on the right priorities.

The Material vs. The Spiritual

A common struggle in our daily walk is the tendency to divide our lives into two separate boxes: the "spiritual" and the "natural". However, Pastor David warned that when we allow material priorities to take the lead, they begin to enslave us. Materialism doesn't just affect our schedules; it enslaves the heart, clouds the mind, and eventually captures the will.

The Strategy: "Seek First"

The solution to this struggle is found in Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you". To "Seek First" means making God’s agenda the absolute priority of our lives. This involves two clear focus areas:

  1. His Kingdom: This refers to the "rule and reign of Christ" in our lives. It requires active obedience and a daily posture of submission to His authority.

  2. His Righteousness: This is about our "right standing before God". It is maintained through a consistent relationship and the daily choice to walk in His ways.

The Divine Promise

The beauty of this teaching is the promise that follows: when we take care of God's priorities, He takes responsibility for ours. When we seek Him first, "all these things"—the daily needs, provisions, and shortfalls of our houses—will be given to us as well.

Putting it into Practice

As you go through this week in Royse City or wherever you are visiting us from, ask yourself: What is sitting on the throne of my house today? Let’s commit to "tapping the brakes" on our material worries and shifting our focus back to the Kingdom.

Join us next week! If you have a prayer need, please visit our prayer tab at highpointag.org so our team can stand with you.
